POST-ELECTION TAX PLANNING WEBINAR 11.17.2020

11/18/2020 | Events & Seminars, News & Resources

The Estate and Trust Tax Planning attorneys at Kaplin Stewart invite you to join them for a webinar to discuss the potential for tax policy changes in Washington now that President-Elect Biden has been declared the victor of the presidential election. As part of his campaign platform, President-Elect Biden released a tax plan that would significantly increase income and estate and gift taxes on high net worth individuals by completely or partially repealing many of the provisions of President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and perhaps taking things a step further by taxing capital gains and dividends at the same rate as ordinary income for certain taxpayers.

Although control of the Senate may not be decided before year-end, making it difficult to assess the likelihood that President-Elect Biden’s proposals will be implemented or, if implemented, when they would be effective, the impact of COVID-19 on financial markets and the overall economy provide certain tax planning opportunities which, coupled with the outcome of the presidential election, cannot be ignored.

Join us as we discuss and compare President-Elect Biden’s proposals to current law and provide an overview of some of the strategies which may (temporarily) be available to you.
