Addiction center development to find home in Philadelphia

Commercial development could be driven by many things. The creation of addiction centers is currently a catalyst for this type of development throughout the nation including the state of Pennsylvania. Recovery Centers of America is planning to expand into several areas, including Pennsylvania.

Some investors find investing in addiction centers appealing for multiple reasons, including the attention being paid to heroin and prescription painkiller deaths and the increased access to care for drug and alcohol addicts as a result of federal changes. That access comes under the Affordable Care Act and Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.

While previously, people seeking treatment for drug or alcohol dependency, may have had to travel great distances to get to a treatment center, this could change. The idea behind these new facilities is to place them near population centers so those who undergo treatment will not have to leave what is familiar to them. This can also be beneficial because it allows family members of the patient to take part in the treatment in both the short and long term. As is the case with many of the treatment centers that patients currently travel for, these new centers will be “five star.”

While it is not yet clear how successful the facility will be, due to the fact that between 20 million and 25 million adults in the United States are addicts, it seems there is a good chance of success.

Depending on the specific locations treatment centers seek to be based, it is possible a serious of challenges–such as zoning–could be an issue. Real estate lawyers can be of assistance in these, and related, matters.
