Barry A. Furman is a principal of the firm. He represents a wide range of business clients for whom he provides corporate law, taxation, healthcare law, employment law, estate planning and estate administration advice and services. Many of Mr. Furman's clients are in the healthcare industry. Mr. Furman advises clients regarding entity formation issues, business structuring, mergers and acquisitions, financing, licenses, business succession planning, regulatory issues and contract negotiations. He counsels clients to find a practical solution to their business needs. Mr. Furman assists employers with employment law compliance counseling and preparing employment, independent contractor, non-competition and confidentiality agreements. He also has a wage and hour practice that includes representing clients before the United States Department of Labor and in the courts. As a former trial attorney for the Internal Revenue Service Chief Counsel's Office, Mr. Furman represents clients aggressively before the Internal Revenue Service and in tax litigation. Mr. Furman has defended many clients in Pennsylvania and other states, including New York, New Jersey and California, whose classifications of workers as independent contractors have been challenged by the Internal Revenue Service, as well as the United States Department of Labor and various state agencies.
